5 Steps to a Brand New You
If you think about what you used to be like, you have probably changed a lot—in good ways and bad. Humans are constantly changing and trying to better themselves. It is also the beginning of a new year, but it is important to know you can take these steps to a brand new you at any point during the year when you are ready. While it is important to strive for more, be sure that you are not causing yourself too much stress. Sometimes change comes naturally.

Step 1: Assess Where You Currently Are

Ask yourself why you want to change. Are you changing for yourself or for someone else? If it’s the former, keep assessing. If it’s the latter, stop right there. You shouldn’t change for anyone but yourself. Think about the things that are bothering you and what you would like to change. Remember that you can’t change everything at once, so prioritize the changes you would like to make and only tackle one or two at a time, so you don’t become overwhelmed and give up.

Step 2: Change Your Thinking

Many times, people are stuck in their old ways of thinking, which is why change doesn’t end up happening. Choose a mantra or saying that you can repeat to yourself when times are tough. It can be as simple as saying, “I can get through this!”. With using positive thoughts and a growth mindset, you can change the way you think, which will allow you to accomplish more.

Step 3: Do What Makes You Feel Good

Find a hobby, try something new, or volunteer your time. Doing what makes you feel good, as long as it is healthy for you, will help you make great changes in your life. Try out yoga, spend time with your family, or take the time to do what you already love.

Step 4: Take Time for Yourself

Life is so demanding. Whether you are single or married or have children, there are many stresses that happen in life, which can affect our health and well-being. Take time out for yourself and so something you love or try something new. At first, you might have to literally block time out on your calendar to take care of yourself. You can also take a little vacation or can try out a few ayahuasca retreats. Whatever you decide to do, taking time for yourself is an important step.

Step 5: Celebrate the Little Accomplishments

Remember that you are on a journey. The important part is not arriving at your destination, but going through the experience. Don’t focus so much on the end result, but celebrate the little changes you made, no matter how small. Think about where you were and where you are not. The smaller the changes you make over time, the better it will feel when you finally reach your goals. Concentrating on the little things also ensures that you won’t get discouraged and give up.

Get started making changes to be a better you by following these first important steps. These changes can’t all happen overnight, but make one small change each day, and before you know it, you will be the brand new you that you have been hoping for.
