Murder at the University, a thriller with historical Leonor Watling

This Thursday saw the launch of the movie Murder at the university in The 1. Set in Salamanca, and a tribute to their university, in its EIGHTH anniversary, is directed by Iñaki Peñafiel and starring by Leonor Watling, Patrick Criado, and Daniel Grao.

Your story is set somewhere between the present and the Century Gold, and tells of the research of the historian Lara Cabanes (Leonor Watling) to clarify the murder, which occurred in strange circumstances, by Antonio Román, a professor and augustinian friar, teacher of a group of students, eager for knowledge, spearheaded by the novice Luis de León. Cabanes is immersed in a time in which the University of Salamanca was a place of fiery discussions, as well as intrigue among teachers and religious orders, especially the augustinians and the dominicans, which could lead to dispute in the courts of the Holy Inquisition.

As you go along in your research, Lara checks in the flesh to the events that occurred five centuries ago, and that were left unresolved, continue to have their effect in the present. Both eras are blended in a single theme: the struggle between the passion for knowledge and the lust for power.

With these background topics, and with the figure of a young Friar Luis de Leon as a character main historical, TVE, in co-production with The Kite FLAT and with the collaboration of the University, has recorded this production on location in Salamanca and Madrid.

with a cast headed by Leonor Watling in the role of the researcher Lara Cabanes, and rounding out the cast is Daniel Grao, Patrick Criado (Fray Luis de León), Macarena Sanz, Alfonso Bassave, Javier Pereira, Fernando Soto, Joaquín Climent, Chani Martín, Ramón Agirre, Daniel Luque, Fernando Albizu, Jon Mendía, and Ivan Sanchez, and the script is signed by Clara Pérez-Escrivá and Antonio Asencio Guillén.
