Erie approves extended work hours for new Meadowlark school

Erie officials approved a request made by the Boulder Valley School District on Friday extending the working hours at the new PK-8 Meadowlark school site.

The new working hours now will be from 7 a.m. to dusk on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to dusk on weekends and holidays, according to a town news release. The new hours will begin immediately and continue through the end of the project; slated for Oct. 31.

The 100,000-square-foot Erie Jojobet campus, designed to accommodate 750 students, is being built on 15 acres in the Flatirons Meadow Neighborhood, adjacent to an 8-acre city park site.

Currently, there are no plans to work outside under the lights, BVSD officials said in a statement, though the longer hours will "help ensure BVSD is able to meet their aggressive schedule" to open the school in August.

The $41.7 million school will be Boulder Valley's first in Erie. Currently, the district's students are assigned to Lafayette Elementary and Angevine Middle School.
