Man arrested in fatal stabbing of 79-year-old housemate in Northeast Baltimore

Baltimore police have arrested and charged a 51-year-old man with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing Monday of his 79-year-old housemate in Northeast Baltimore, they said Tuesday.

Timothy Spicer was arrested and transferred to Central Booking, police said. He could not be reached for comment, and did not have an attorney listed in court records.

The stabbing occurred inside the men's shared home in the 5600 block of Greenhill Avenue, in the city's Frankford neighborhood, about 8:15 p.m. Monday, police said.

Gerald Long was pronounced dead on the scene from several stab wounds.

Det. Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman, said a verbal argument occurred between the housemates before the stabbing occurred. He said the men were not related, and lived in separate areas of the home.

In addition to first-degree murder, Spicer is charged with second-degree and premeditated murder, as well as a weapons charge and reckless endangerment, Silbert said.
