Several people were injured after a 3,000-tonne ship capsized at the Leith shipyard outside Edinburgh, a spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said.

Five ambulances, an air ambulance, three trauma teams and other emergency services rushed to the scene, the statement added.

Images posted on Twitter showed a large ship leaning against the wall of a dry dock. A local councilor posted on social media that strong winds had caused the incident.

Edinburgh police asked people to avoid the area to allow access for emergency services. "We are responding to an incident at Imperial Dock in Leith when a dry-docked boat was dislodged from its hold," police said.

At least 15 people were taken to the hospital and another 10 were treated at the scene of the incident.
