Which day will be the busiest for U.S. spring break travelers? Here's one prediction

It won’t be anything like the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but spring break may have its own little travel crush. Travel insurance company Allianz Global Assistance predicts that March 11 could be the busiest day for Americans taking a spring break vacation.

After that, March 2, 1, 9 and 8 (in that order) are predicted to be busy travel days for those planning to join the spring break crowds, the company said Tuesday in a news release.

So where’s everyone going?

No surprise, the beaches and pulsing nightclubs of Cancun, Mexico, make it the No. 1 international destination for Americans, particularly among college kids. The resort town set a tourism record with 5 million visitors in 2016, according to Mexico News Daily.

Florida dominates the top 10 places to go in the U.S. Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco made the cut too.

Here are the favorite places where Americans are heading over spring break, Allianz says.

1. Cancun, Mexico

2. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3. San Juan, Puerto Rico

4. Puna Cana, Dominican Republic

5. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

6. London

7. Montego Bay, Jamaica

8. Aruba Island, Aruba

9. Nassau, Bahamas

10 St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands

For the report, Allianz looked at reservations of more than 4 million trips between five and eight days long that were reserved through companies with which it partners.

The season was defined as starting Feb. 24 and ending April 9.
