15 cases of legionellosis in three months: what is happening in Charleville-Mézières?

What's going on in Charleville-Mézières? Since February, 15 cases of legionellosis have been recorded in this city and its agglomeration, against ten over a whole year usually. Of these fifteen cases, a septuagenarian died in April. All of the patients, according to TF1 Info, are between 50 and 89 years old. The first researches did not allow to determine the cause of this small epidemic, even though this disease is not contagious. It is only transmitted by water droplets.

The health agency insists: the disease is caught only "by the inhalation of microdroplets of contaminated water [...]. Legionnaires' disease is not transmitted from person to person." "The water consumption is not to be questioned," she says again.

In order to put an end to this peak of contamination, "investigations are underway to identify the origin of the contamination and to put in place control measures". "Additional checks are in progress", while the first searches did not lead to anything.
