1,800 km on a paddle: The new charity expedition by the Landaises de Cap Optimist

The six Cap Optimist "waterwomen", who are continuing to prepare for the crossing of the far Pacific in 2023, will join Peru and French Polynesia with sheer force of arms using a paddle.

The Landaises Stephanie Barneix and Alexandra Lux, Emmanuelle Belscheron, Margot Kalvet, Marie Goyeneche, and the Spaniard Itziar Absascal will depart Monaco for a training expedition and cohesion expedition. Athens will be their destination. They will arrive in Athens around June 18, after having paddled 1,800 km.

This charity challenge aims to "test the crew so that everybody gets to know each other better. Test the menus prepared and hydrated by the dietician as well as outfits, boards, equipment, outfits, and accessories to protect themselves from the scorching sun."

The fundraising effort for Elpida Association, a charity that aids children with cancer, and Princess Charlene Foundation, a charity that teaches swimming, is part of the adventure.

Annika and Jessica Horn will greet the Cape Optimist sportswomen upon their arrival in Athens. They are the daughters of Mike Horn.
