A Air France plane to Paris had to turn around this morning shortly after taking off from Beijing after a "technical incident," the airline announced, specifying that the apparatus had landed "normally".

The AF393 flight crew of the Boeing-777 "decided to return to Beijing after 14 minutes of flight due to the detection of a technical incident," said the airline in a statement.

"The plane landed normally in Beijing at 04h03 local (20h03 GMT)," he said.

According to a local newspaper "there was an explosion on the back of the cabin and a black smoke was detached" inside the plane, but "no one was injured."

Air France did not comment on this information or the Chinese airport authorities.

According to Air France's statement, passengers were served by the company "and will be taken to Paris as soon as possible."

"Maintenance work will be carried out on the plane before it is again in service," the company added, without specifying if they were going to use the same apparatus for stranded passengers
