Apple renews its cheapest iPhone to put 5G and throw a new chip for your most powerful Macs

The cheapest Apple iPhone will now have 5G networks compatibility. The company has announced it at its first event of the year, an appointment in which it has also shown a new iPad Air, but that has been starring, above all, by a very powerful new processor that the company will focus on the professional market, the M1 Ultra.

In the coming weeks the company will put three new iPhone for sale. The first two are only a green variation of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro who are already on sale from the end of last year.

The third, however, is a more ambitious bet. It is a new version of your cheapest iPhone, the iPhone SE, which will now have 5g connection and the same processor as the iPhone 13 Pro, the A15 Bionic.

This makes it the phone most powerful in its price range. The mobile will cost 529 euros if the configuration with 64 GB of memory is chosen. The rest of the benefits are evidently lower than those of the rest of the market iphones. The screen has 4.7 inches, for example, and lacks the FaceID biometric identification system. Keep using, instead, the fingerprint reader TouchID hidden on the start button. The 12 megapixel camera has a portrait, HDR and the Deep Fusion function, which adds sharpness to the image.

Apple also ensures that the iPhone has the toughest glass of the market both on the screen and in the rear, the same one used in the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro.

The other product that also wins 5G connectivity is the new iPad Air. It is a version of the tablet that integrates the M1 processor that Apple until now reserved for the Mac and the iPad Pro.

Thanks to it, the new iPad Air is 60% faster than the previous model and twice as much as a powerful graph.

The new tablet also has an enhanced front camera, with 12 megapixels resolution and support for focused frame, which is an automatic framing technology that focuses on the interlocutor and adapts if more participants are added to a video call.

The iPad Air will continue to use, as in the previous model, the Fingerprint TouchID Identification System integrated into the power button, and is compatible with the Magic Keyboard keyboard and the second generation Penscle Apple Digital Pencil.

The iPad Air will be available from March 18 at a price of 679 euros for the WiFi version and 849 euros for the 5G version.

The great surprise of the event, however, was the announcement of a new processor for Mac computers, the Ultra M1, which is added to those already presented M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max. The processor actually hides two M1 Max working in parallel connected with a proprietary system with a bandwidth of 2.5 tb / s.

This provides the ultra of a process capacity, both in general computation and in graphic process, absolutely demolished. With 114,000 million transistors, it is the most advanced chip that can be put on a personal computer. Apple ensures that its graphic power exceeds that of the most powerful dedicated graphic card, the NVIDIA RTX 3090, and also consumes a fraction of the energy that would need the NVIDIA card.

Thanks to the simultaneous use of two M1 max, the new Apple chip can be configured with up to 128 GB of RAM (memory is integrated into the chip itself and shared by both CPU and GPU). It has 20 nuclei, 16 high performance and four high efficiency. With the same consumption, it offers a performance by 90% higher than the 16-core desktop PC computer chip currently available.

Apple's first MAC who will use it will be the Mac Studio, a compact table that occupies a surface similar to that of the Mac Mini, although quite thickened, with 9.4 cm. Tall.

The Mac Studio can be configured with both MAX or M1 Ultra chips and is intended primarily for professional users, especially in the creative sector. You can connect with up to 4 external 6K resolution screens and work with up to 18 Simultaneous 42K Prores Video Sequences.

The team also has more ports from which it usually puts Apple. In the back, there are four Thunderbolt 4 ports to connect monitors and high-performance devices, an Ethernet port of 10 GB, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port and a professional audio shot for high impedance headphones or external amplified speakers . On the front there are two USB-C ports, which with the M1 MAX chip support USB 3 to 10 GB / S and with the Ultra M1 chip are compatible with Thunderbolt 4 to 40 GB / s. There is also a SD card slot. The machine has WiFi sixth generation and Bluetooth 5.0.

To complement it, Apple has also put aside a new 27-inch monitor with 5K resolution. It is the Studio Display, made of aluminum and 12 megapixel webcam and focused frame. The monitor includes three microphones and six high quality speakers. It can be configured with an adjustable height foot, VESA support and several antireflection finishes, although these options increase its cost.

And is that these teams are not precisely cheap. Focused on the most demanding public, Mac Studio booted at 2,329 euros for the model with M1 Max and Studio Display at 1,779 euros. Both will be available from March 18 and can be reserved from today.
