The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has ordered the prohibition of marketing and withdrawal from the "Yohimnine + Caffeine" market market, indicated to improve sexual function, because they are marketed as a food supplement.
In a statement, the AEMPS explains that this product contains Yohimbina in a dose that gives it the medication condition, without being evaluated and authorized by the Agency.
The British company Magnus Supplets Ltd markets this product through different websites aimed at Spanish users and consumers with the active substance Yohimbina in sufficient quantity to "restore, correct or modify a physiological function by exerting a pharmacological action, which gives it the condition Legal medicine ".
At weak doses, yohimbine is a hypertensor, while if used in higher doses acts as a hypotensive and vasodilator of peripheral vascular territories, so it can improve sexual function, as well as increase tone and intestinal motility.
Alert health that in Spain there is no authorized medicine that includes Yohimbina in its composition, contrary to what happens in France, where it is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, among others.
The product card of the product in France collects a series of adverse events related to its use, which include central nervous system disorders, irritability, insomnia, tremor or cardiovascular problems.
In addition, it presents drug interactions with clonidine and inhibition of the activity of antihypertensive medications.
