The National Police, in collaboration with the Civil Guard, has dismantled one of the most active criminal organizations in the distribution of cocaine in different Spanish provinces and that had increased its activity during the pandemic. The police operation has been saved with 16 detainees and 107 kilos of this drug seized.

As reported by the police, it has been a joint operation between both bodies and complex due to the extensive scope of investigated acting, their high criminal specialization and the use of a fleet of high-end vehicles with sophisticated concealment systems for execution of his criminal activities.

The now disarticulated band distributed important amounts of cocaine throughout the national territory and had increased its "frantic criminal activity" during the time of restrictions motivated by the Coronavirus pandemic, the police detail. In fact, he had devised new criminal planners to try not to attract attention, thus generating a feeling of false impunity among his members.

Since the beginning of the investigation, the agents focused on identifying and stopping the participants of the criminal framework by being, allegedly, of those responsible for the distribution of important quantities of cocaine by different provinces of the peninsular territory and by Ibiza. The researchers detected that, within their criminal planning, the network had the intention of increasing the flow of narcotic drugs to the islands facing the summer season.

The agents found that members of the organization maintained links with people settled in Galicia, who were located on the step of suppliers of the narcotic substance. In turn, they also had ties with groups of Asturias, where one of the main grade actors was arrested: an entrepreneur linked to the hospitality sector of said province.

Police research revealed that the group investigated had sophisticated means to transport the drug, as vehicles that would open them on the road and alerted of any surveillance or police control, or sophisticated concealment systems, among these double hydraulic funds. These were not the only difficulties encountered by researchers since the organization used computerized messaging applications to establish contact between its members, making the police action further difficult.

In a first phase of the police operation, carried out in May, 50 kilos of hidden cocaine were apprehended on a double bottom of a tourism and 370,000 euros hidden in another double fund of another tourism.

At first the agents arrested four people. Subsequently, four properties were recorded in the provinces of Valencia and Madrid, where several high-end vehicles, encrypted media, cash and documentation related to the criminal structure now dismantled were intervened.

In a second phase, developed in June, agents conducted eleven tickets and records in different provinces (Pontevedra, Asturias, Jaén, Granada, Alicante and Balearic Islands) and another five members of the band were arrested. Then 1.3 kilograms of cocaine, mobile telephony terminals, 32,000 euros and five vehicles used by the organization were apprehented.

And, in a third phase of exploitation, held at the end of June, 15 kilos of cocaine hidden was intervened in a double bottom of the vehicle of one of those investigated. Subsequently, two entrances and records were carried out in Valencia and Madrid, where three people were arrested and 40 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 500 grams of pink cocaine.

Research has ended with 16 detainees, 18 entries and records, 107 kilos of cocaine, two kilos of methamphetamine, 500 grams of pink cocaine, 403,000 euros on tickets of different value and 12 vehicles intervened. The research is directed by the Bosard of Instruction Number 1 of Orihuela (Alicante) and the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Alicante.
