The metal strike in Cádiz is already history. The pre-Agreement that the UGT and CCOO unions reached last Wednesday has been ratified by a vast majority of the 20,000 workers who concentrates the sector in the Gaditanian province after today the Company text voted through today company. The two union plants have confirmed that the support has been overwhelming and that rejection in voting has been around 10% as much.
The definitive approval of the Agreement implies the disconnect of the strike, which today reached its tenth day and that remained still valid waiting for the voting by the workers. The agreement satisfies one of the claims of the employer, grouped around the Federation of Metal Companies of the Province of Cádiz (FEMCA), since the new agreement that should now be signed will be valid for three years, from this 2021 to 2023, which guarantees that it will not be necessary to return to negotiate in the short term and there will be a period of labor peace in the sector.
But, in addition, as the unions demanded, it has been agreed that the difference between the actual inflation of each exercise and the agreed wage rise (2% per year) is consolidated, by 80%, in the salary tables. Likewise, at the end of the validity of the Convention, if there was a difference between the total increases and the real CPI of these three years, it will also be included in the salary tables since January 1, 2024.
This has been saved the main obstacle in the negotiation that has prolonged for more than a week, inflation. Although the duration of the agreement initially separated the two parties, the authentic barricade has been on how to apply the real rise of the IPC to wages. The final meeting of the 27 negotiators took place at Seville headquarters of the Andalusian Council of Labor Relations (Carl) and under mediation, requested by the two parties, of the employment counseling of the Junta de Andalucía.
