Naturgy wins the award for the best energy company in the world, and Reynés to the best manager

"It is not an individual or collective recognition, but it is for all those who work to transform our country together." With those words, the Executive President of Naturgy, Francisco Reynés, thanked the world's best energy company awards yesterday and the best delegated adviser who delivers the information giant of the energy sector, Platts.

The delivery of the prizes, held on Thursday at the Cipriani restaurant of Wall Street, was marked by an absence: the Reynés himself. The Spanish manager decided to "apply criteria of maximum responsibility", according to the company, and cancel its trip to the United States due to the new variant of the Covid-19. The two awards were collected on his behalf by Jordi García Tabernero, General Director of Sustainability, Reputation, and Naturgy Institutional Relations.

Although Reynés was considered one of the favorites to the Best CEO Award, Maturgy's victory in the best company's section was a surprise. Reynés, who took over Naturgy's reins in 2018 after passing through abertis, has focused on the management of him in the transformation of the company to take advantage of the opportunities of the energy transition. The award closes a year in which Naturgy has been on the first page of today for entry into its capital of the Australian Manager IFM, which has 12% of capital.

Naturgy was not the only Spanish company that was on the gala. Repsol's top management, Josu Jon Imaz, was one of the finalists at the Best CEO Award, while the Asturian company Uco Trading, specialized in the recycling of cooking oil for bichmumbust, was also in the final cut of the Awards in the category of best emerging company.

The prizes are granted every year by Platts, the world's largest energy-special information agency, which is in turn property of S & P, the owner of the Risk Rating Agency Standard and Poor's and the McGrawhill publishing house.
