The new airs of the iron sculpture of Angel González and Pablo Picasso, the social commitment of the photos of Paolo Gasparini or La Rompedora Photography of Carlos Pérez asquier, Copan the programming of the Mapfre Foundation in Madrid for 2022. Meanwhile, the KBR center , that the MAPFRE Foundation opened a year ago. He is still dedicated exclusively to photography.

From February to May 2022 the Foundation welcomes two diametrically opposed proposals: a review of the presence of French art in Spain from the seventeenth century to the 19th, and the first retrospective of the Spanish photographer Jorge Pérez Ribalta.

The French taste and its presence in Spain (centuries XVII and XIX), curated by Amaya Alzaga, leaves a debt with the presence of French art in Spain, scarcely studied. The sample combines collecting history and diplomatic relations in a payroll, in many cases unprecedented and from private collections.

At the same time, the Foundation offers the first retrospective of Jorge Ribalta, from its first images of illusionist cutting miniatures from the 80s to the present. The Creator, sometimes best known for the work of him as a manager or commissar, shows the creative universe of him through great series of works.

In summer (from June to August 2022) two great photography come together in Madrid. On the one hand, Paolo Gasparini, the photographer of the social contradictions of Latin America, disembarks in Madrid with an exhibition of 300 images that the Foundation has acquired entirely.

The MAPFRE Foundation, with an extensive collection of private photography, has made similar operations with other photographers, explained Carlos Gollonet, head conservation of MAPFRE photography. Gasparini, holder of one of the most original languages of today, portrays the cultural tensions of the continent of it in white and white raw.

In contrast and all color, the Foundation brings to Madrid a retrospective dedicated to Carlos Pérez asquier, a posthumous tribute to one of the most original Spanish photography voices of the last century, which was previously exhibited in Barcelona but closed abruptly by the pandemic .

For Gollonet, Pérez Asquier "has never been sufficiently valued". The use of the color of it, similar to the renowned Martin Parr but developed a decade earlier, supposed a violent break with Spanish photography "from a corner as remote as Almería."

The collaboration between Pablo Picasso and Angel González gave rise, - among 1928 and 1932- to a new type of iron sculpture that meant a point and partly for gender. This premise is extended under the look of Tomas Llorens, who worked as a commissioner in this project until little before he died.

The sample, from September 2022 to January 2023, will be integrated into the acts of the 50th anniversary of the death of Picasso, will include fundamental pieces of both artists, and has as a premise to expand the horizons about the contribution of both authors to the history of the art.

Before Picasso and González presents the first retrospective in Spain of Ilse Bing, a tanned photographer in the Paris of Interwers, educated in the Bauhaus and exiled to the United States, with a fairly complex biography that has done "very difficult" to gather all the images From the sample, Gollonet explained.

MAPFRE Foundation plans to close the year with an influx of public from 70% with respect to the number of visitors of 2019. "Our public is not a tourist, but local," said Nadia Arroyo, president of the MAPFRE Foundation.

Photography exposures, with a younger audience, have not resent so much, but in painting, with followers of a higher age, the levels prior to the pandemic have not yet recovered, although they trust that the new programming encourages its lap.
