Drops the recycling of used oil: barely reached 0.5% in 2017

Have adapted the recipe from grandmothers to make soap in the new forms of TWENTY-first century. Souji is a recent chemical formulation (plant-based and mineral) in about a minute you get to recycle used vegetable oil and turn it into a detergent sustainable, with a pleasant aroma with multiple uses in the home: for mopping the floor, washing clothes, and/or as a dishwasher. The idea to do three years of Sergio Fernández (environmental engineer) and Catherine Trujillo (degrees in marketing and commercial management). "We wanted to overcome the traditional recipe of making soap with caustic soda caustic. To use the soda, there are a series of precautions, such as wearing goggles and mask for fumes, gloves... Our goal was to manufacture a laundry detergent more environmentally friendly, without risk to health, and that even a child could manipulate," says Fernandez.

they were looking for a new product, in addition contribute to the care of the environment. "The people stored in containers in the used oil and don't know what to do with it. It is a product that does not usually have dumps or collection points. So many times it is pulled by the sink. is A litre of oil to contaminate a thousand litres of water and clogs the sewer system. The alternative to recycling is the biodiesel, but there is so much demand for this fuel," says Sergio. So a good option to provide an outlet for the used oil is mixed with the formulation Souji (in the proportions that indicate the instructions), stir for a minute and get this new detergent, "96% less polluting than any similar product for the clothes," says Fernandez.

To the university

Behind Souji is the parent company, Samsarapps, an sme that, in addition to seeking profits, aims to create innovations that improve the health of our planet. "Sergio created the first formulation, and rallied the support of the Instituto Químico de Sarria, University Ramon Llull of Barcelona, which helped us to refine and loaned us their research services. But the patent is ours," explains Catherine. is Two external laboratories (one in Barcelona and another in Toledo) manufactures the product.

Souji is at 70 points of sale: from stores bio and herbalists to large stores like El Corte Inglés and Carrefour. "We are promoting the bulk sale. And now we want to go also to the hospitality sector, we want to make a machine type express that by pressing a button, to quit soap for the use that you want," says Trujillo.

The bottle that contains the product is 100% recyclable and the bag of recharge has a 70% less plastic than a bottle common. "The packaging is imported from north America. The casing is of same material as egg cartons and inside a recycled plastic that can again be recycled. It is the most environmentally friendly that we have been able to find," says Catherine.
