A Hungarian fugitive from Europol's "10 most wanted" list is arrested in Barajas

National Police agents have arrested a fugitive at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport included in Europol's "ten most wanted fugitives" list, who had a European arrest and surrender warrant filed by the Hungarian authorities and I had been looking for for 10 years.

She was arrested upon landing at the Madrid airport from the Dominican Republic, where she was hiding after being sentenced in her country of origin to more than 10 years in prison for committing various economic crimes, the Police reported in a statement. She faces other possible sentences that exceed 15 years in prison for alleged crimes of documentary falsification, fraud and fraud.

The arrested woman has lived for more than ten years evading justice in different countries and had great ease of access to falsified documentation, which made it difficult to detect.

The investigations began in 2022, when the National Police began an important investigation to locate in national territory those individuals who are part of the "European Most Wanted" list, developed by Europol and the Enfast network.

The facts for which he was wanted date back to the period between 2005 and 2012, when the fugitive, a specialist in banking relations and credit fraud, in collaboration with two other people managed to illegally seize more than two million euros.

To give a legal appearance to the origin of this money, they created various shell companies. Immediately after her first convictions, specifically in mid-2012, and prior to her entry into prison, the detainee disappeared from Hungary without a trace.

Initially it was suspected that he was hiding in Thailand, where one of his associates had been detained. However, the initial investigations and the collaboration between the authorities of Germany, Spain and the Dominican Republic allowed it to be located in the latter country last January.

There she lived protected by an influential Hungarian community, developing an apparently familiar and normal life under a false identity. She had married a man of Dominican nationality, with whom she has a young daughter.

With all this information, the Dominican and Spanish authorities established a joint device to proceed with his arrest, which took place at the border post of the Madrid airport.
