In the middle of his visit to the Eiffel Tower on Friday, April 28, a man suffered a cardiac arrest. Quickly dispatched to the scene and given the situation, a Samu doctor would then, according to information from TF1 / LCI, decided to operate on the spot.

The operation consisted of placing an artificial heart on the victim, using the technique of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Ecmo), a circulatory assistance technique which consists of ensuring the circulation and oxygenation of the blood by the through a pump. An action that was successfully carried out by the Samu team in just over two hours. A real technical feat.

The man was then transferred to Necker Hospital in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
