Aerosmith cancel concerts: Steven Tyler in treatment after drug relapse

Actually, they wanted to rock Las Vegas in the summer, but the preparation for the show triggered a relapse in the well-known face of Aerosmith Steven Tyler. The 74-year-old has a checkered drug history but is now concentrating on his health, the band said.

Steven Tyler, the 74-year-old lead singer of rock band Aerosmith, has entered treatment after a drug relapse. His band members have now announced this. "As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his abstinence for many years. After undergoing foot surgery in preparation for the stage and requiring pain management during the process, he recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to to focus on his health and recovery," the band said in a statement.

The musicians would therefore have to inform fans "that we have to cancel our first dates in Las Vegas in June and July while he concentrates on his well-being." The band will continue with 2022 dates from September and will keep fans informed of further updates as soon as possible.

Tyler has a checkered drug history. In the 70s he and his bandmate on lead guitar, Joe Perry, were nicknamed "The Toxic Twins" because of their high consumption of cocaine, heroin and alcohol.

"We are devastated that we are causing inconvenience to so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel from great distances to experience our shows." The band should be back in Las Vegas, City of Lights, starting this June and continuing through December 2022. There, their "Deuces Are Wild" show is scheduled to return to the MGM Park Theater, where the US band already played almost 50 gigs together in 2019 and 2020.

The musicians had announced the performances in three blocks: the first shows should be from June 17th to July 8th, the second momentum is scheduled for September 14th to October 5th and the eight final concerts are to take place from November 19th to 11th take place in December.
