After a freak California snowstorm, 73-year old hiker was found

California authorities found a missing 73-year old man after a freak snowstorm struck the area where he was hiking earlier in the week.

His family said that Gab Song went to the Mount Pinos Nordic Base Camp, Kern County, on Tuesday. They planned to return home before dark. He never returned.

Ventura County Sheriff's Office provided an update Thursday that Song had been found safe and sound following his mysterious disappearance.

Mike Song, his son, said that it was "quite unfortunate" that a snowstorm occurred on the day. "He didn’t bring much gear."

The snow covered 8 inches of ground by search and rescue teams who went looking for him.

Ventura County Sheriff's Department had teams that searched the Mount Pinos region with assistance from Kern County search-and-rescue teams.
