This Saturday, Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) will see new disruptions. One in five flights will be cancelled by airlines at Roissy airport on Saturday. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), decided to cancel these flights due to a strike of airport firefighters in order to get better salaries. This requires the closing of some runways, which reduces capacity.
"In the absence a resolution to the conflict, airlines will be asked to reduce their flights schedule" between 7 and 2 p.m., "up to 20%" upon departure and arrival at the first French airport.
"The movement continues among firefighters", said Daniel Bertone, general secretary of CGT of Groupe ADP and manager of Paris airports.
Due to the social movement, 10% of flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle were cancelled Thursday and Friday mornings.
The CGT states that the strike will continue all weekend in accordance to the current notice. New notices have been filed for next weekend which will mark the beginning of summer school holidays, which traditionally sees a peak. attendance at airports as well as stations and roads.
