The emergency services were alerted around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 4 for a traffic accident on the RN 202 in the town of Angles in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The first evidence collected indicates that a motorcycle and car collided in an undetermined manner. The motorcycle caught fire as a result. Witnesses used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames.
The death of the motorcyclist, who was approximately twenty-years-old, was discovered by firefighters and the Smur (mobile ambulance and resuscitation services) of Digne-les-Bains. After the accident, the car's occupants were shocked and had to be examined immediately. Two thirty-somethings and three kids aged 8-15 were among them. Twenty firefighters from the rescue centers of Saint-Andre-les-Alpes, Barreme and Castellane intervened. During the rescue operations, traffic was temporarily blocked off at RN 202. Detours have been created.
