An anti-Sarkozy anticipation novel written by Griveaux in 2007 resurfaces

"An act of literary activism" to reveal "what France will really be after" Nicolas Sarkozy... Two years later, a 79-page book co-signed in 2007 by Benjamin Griveaux and a certain Sean Christian, was unearthed by the StreetPress site. Originally, the book was published on a blog, before being withdrawn.

This is the pitch that could be read on StreetPress: "November 2009: a liberal president flirting with the far right has ruled the country for two years. In a right-thinking and secure France, the divisions have exacerbated to the point of the birth of a Resistance. Its main vocation is to relieve social suffering, but its activities threaten the stability of power. On the occasion of an investigation into a failed state crime, the lawyer of the person arrested by mistake explores this new France polarized to excess."

The current LREM candidate for mayor of Paris then describes a very gloomy France held in place by police forces devoid of "humanity", and in which "ultra-liberalism had conquered its letters of nobility in a strong struggle" . You can also come across characters freely inspired by right-wing personalities. Like Hortense Brisefeux (Brice Hortefeux), a "fat woman with short yellow hair", or Serge Bénault (Serge Dassault), a crooked industrialist specializing in surveillance systems.

"I'm not sure the book has had many emulators," reacted Benjamin Griveaux to StreetPress, refusing to comment further. For readers interested in the book, the site has put it back online (click here).
