Archewell boss resigns: Harry and Meghan take over production company

A few days before the release of a documentary about Harry and Meghan, the head of the responsible production company resigns. Everything planned, explains the royal couple. From then on, the two of them managed the fortunes of their company themselves.

The British Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan will take over the operational business of their production company Archewell and the foundation of the same name. The couple announced this after the previous Archewell President Mandana Dayani had resigned from office.

The handover had been planned from the start. Dayani only took on the task during Meghan and Harry's parental leave. "There will be no replacement for this position and Ms. Dayani fully supports the Duke and Duchess in their new leadership role and they remain friends," the statement continued. Dayani ran the company's day-to-day operations and played a key role in building Meghan's Spotify podcast Archetypes.

The couple had been in the public eye again and again in the past few days, not least with the trailer for a Netflix documentary series about their lives, which should be available on the streaming platform before Christmas. The six-part documentary was co-produced by Archewell, among others.

Harry and Meghan had broken away from the British royal family a few years ago and live with their two children Archie (3) and Lilibet (1) in the US state of California. The relationship with the other royals is considered tense.

Insiders warn that the upcoming series could be very uncomfortable for the royal family. The Mirror quoted a source familiar with the Netflix production as saying: "I genuinely think it's going to be worse than the royals can imagine. I've been told it will be extremely explosive and cause a lot of damage."
