A baby girl born three months premature after her mother was fatally shot last year has died, authorities and family said.
The baby, named A'Miracle, developed pneumonia several weeks ago and died Thursday after being taken off life support, according to family members.
"It hurts so bad," said Crystal Jones, the baby’s grandmother.
Jones had cared for the baby since her 19-year-old daughter Parasha M. Beard was killed in September in the South Chicago neighborhood.
"Thank God that her baby that she was pregnant with is surviving right now," Jones said at the time of the shooting. "Thank you God, have mercy on me."
But five months later, the baby was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. at Northwestern, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
