Baden-Württemberg: 9-euro ticket should also be valid in intercity trains on the Gäubahn

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Train passengers can also use the 9-euro ticket for intercity journeys from Stuttgart to Singen. The tickets would also be valid on the Gäubahn to Lake Constance from June 1st, the Ministry of Transport in Stuttgart announced on Monday. Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) and Deutsche Bahn's representative for the southwest, Thorsten Krenz, agreed on this. One is glad to have found a solution "in the interests of the passengers".

On the route of the Gäubahn, as on some other routes in Germany, local transport tickets are usually valid for travel with intercity long-distance trains. At first, however, it was unclear whether the 9-euro tickets could also be used for this. The Gäubahn is particularly popular with day trippers and holidaymakers.

With the 9-euro tickets, passengers can use local public transport throughout Germany in June, July and August - for 9 euros per month. According to the railway, more than a million of the special tickets were sold by Tuesday. With the offer, the federal government wants to relieve citizens in the face of inflation and make switching to public transport more attractive.
