Baden-Württemberg: accident near Bad Waldsee: suspected polluter determined

Bad Waldsee (dpa / lsw) - Five days after a fatal accident near Bad Waldsee (Ravensburg district), the police identified the suspected cause of the accident. An 18-year-old driver died in the accident last Sunday. Six people were injured, some seriously, including two children.

According to the police on Friday, it is a 34-year-old man who was targeted by investigators immediately after the traffic accident. Witness statements and trace evaluations have now confirmed the first suspicion. The man's driver's license was secured. He is being investigated on suspicion of negligent homicide and negligent bodily harm and on suspicion of endangering road traffic.

The man is said to have passed several cars during an overtaking maneuver and later cut back in at the head of the column. Because of the risky overtaking manoeuvre, an oncoming car had to slam on the brakes; this skidded and collided with the overtaken car. The 18-year-old's car rolled over in the collision. The young woman died at the scene of the accident. Her 19-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. According to the public prosecutor's office, none of the injured are in danger of death.
