How much money should a park in which parts of the Unesco World Heritage on the Swabian Alb can be seen? The state government's answer to this question is met with incomprehension by numerous scientists.
Niederstotzingen (dpa/lsw) - In the dispute over the future financing of the Vogelherd Archaeopark, supporters of the park want to come together for a protest on Sunday. According to a spokesman, an offer from the country does not go far enough for them. There will be several contributions to the campaign, including from the park's scientific director, archaeologist Nicholas Conard.
In the park in Niederstotzingen (Heidenheim district), finds from the Stone Age can be seen as part of the Unesco World Heritage on the Swabian Alb. This Sunday is the last opening day this year. The future financing of the park has not yet been clarified.
The state has submitted an offer to which the city has not yet commented. The municipal council will discuss the offer on November 30, said Niederstotzingen's non-party mayor, Marcus Bremer. He doesn't want to anticipate that.
The Ministry of Building in Stuttgart, which is responsible for monument protection, had proposed paying the annual rent of 35,000 euros requested by the city and at the same time setting up an office in the park for the State Office for Monument Preservation, including a public cave information center.
The offer of the state also provides that in future employees of the state office will be available for questions and guided tours up to three days a week. In return, the state expects more uniform opening and tour times from the city.
