Baden-Württemberg: Air quality in health resorts should be recorded in real time

Hinterzarten (dpa/lsw) - The current air quality in health resorts with a healthy climate should be available on the Internet in the future, together with a forecast. It starts with a pilot project in Hinterzarten (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) and Bad Dürrheim (Schwarzwald-Baar district), as the spas and health resorts Marketing GmbH Baden-Württemberg and the technology group Bosch announced on Friday. In the long term, all climatic health resorts in the Black Forest are to be equipped with the appropriate technology.

With the help of an air quality measuring box developed by Bosch, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and fine dust values are measured in addition to temperature, humidity and air pressure. The data is graphically processed according to the information. You should then be able to find them as an air quality index on the "mein.toubiz" internet platform, the websites of the towns and the homepage of the spa and health resorts Marketing GmbH. Based on the data, a forecast can be calculated for up to five days. Among other things, the influence of general weather conditions is taken into account.

"It would be a dream if, based on the data series, we could develop forecasts for the practice of special sports in the best areas and times of the day," said the President of the Spa Association, Fritz Link, according to the announcement. "This would give our guests and residents concrete recommendations for the healthiest stay in combination with the most suitable sport."

According to the information, the air quality measuring boxes can be bought or leased for around 5000 euros per year. The costs for the pilot project in Hinterzarten and Bad Dürrheim will be borne by the spa association. Health resorts have had to undergo an air quality test by the German Weather Service every ten years.
