Baden-Württemberg: Alleged shoplifter is in custody

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The police arrested a suspected shoplifter in downtown Stuttgart on Saturday, for whom a judge issued an arrest warrant on Sunday. According to police reports, the 38-year-old man stole several items in a shop with a 22-year-old on Sunday and resisted being arrested by the staff.

Two store detectives became aware of the duo and observed them. The 38-year-old therefore took sports shoes from the display, removed the security tag and put on the shoes. He put his own on the shelf. The 22-year-old is said to have done the same.

After leaving the store, the detectives spoke to the two men, who now also had a suitcase with them. While the 22-year-old willingly went along, the 38-year-old punched at one of the detectives, getting into a scuffle with him and both men fell to the ground.

A colleague of the detective rushed to help and they managed to bring the 38-year-old to the office as well. There it turned out that in addition to the shoes, he also wanted to steal a jacket and suitcase worth several hundred euros from the shop.

The 38-year-old man is in custody. The 22-year-old was released again.
