Baden-Württemberg: Alleged water damage: trickster stole jewelry

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - A trickster who pretended to be a caretaker stole jewelry worth around 6,000 euros in a Mannheim apartment. The man told the 92-year-old resident on Friday that he had to check for possible water damage, the police said on Saturday. He discovered the alleged damage in the bedroom, where he emptied the woman's jewelry box. The 92-year-old only noticed the theft later. The police search was initially unsuccessful.
