"For the security of the IT network in hospitals and the security authorities, more money is needed for the hardware and infrastructure," said state chairman Gundram Lottmann "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Thursday). But the state government must also start with the staff: In addition, more IT specialists would have to be hired. "Due to the current shortage of skilled workers, this is only possible with special payments, since the public sector cannot keep up with the salaries in the private sector."
The union criticized that the government had neglected the security infrastructure. The situation at the State Criminal Police Office recently clearly demonstrated this. The power went out there after a technical defect, which had an impact on police headquarters across the country. "Politicians have hesitated here for far too long," Lottmann told the two newspapers.
The website of the Baden-Württemberg police force was again the target of a cyber attack within a few days. This was repelled on Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Interior in Stuttgart told the German Press Agency. The pages were not available for a short time, but now again without restrictions. Like last Thursday, it was a so-called DDoS attack (Denial of Service) or overload attack, the spokeswoman said. Significantly more network resources are used than usual, for example due to a large number of page views.
