Baden-Württemberg: Another school in Karlsruhe affected by a cyber attack

Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - In Karlsruhe, another school has fallen victim to a hacker attack. As the city announced on Tuesday, eight schools were specifically affected by last weekend's cyber attack. There is no further ransom demand, nor is there any indication of the origin of the perpetrators.

The hackers had previously attacked seven schools and are demanding 2.017303 bitcoins from each of the institutions, worth around 41,000 euros at the current exchange rate. That was announced on Monday. The attackers had encrypted system data and injected malware. To be on the safe side, the city took the servers of the institutions and those of 70 other schools in the city offline. The servers are now being checked step by step.
