Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) - According to the organizers, around 260,000 people attended the open-air festival "Das Fest" in Karlsruhe after the Corona break. That was about as many as in 2019. "We are happy to see the love with which people return and the consideration they show," said Managing Director Martin Wacker from KME Karlsruhe Marketing and Event GmbH. Except for a suspected bicycle thief and a few wasp stings, there were no incidents. ""The festival" is an event that people love," said Wacker on Sunday. "And they want to contribute to it too."

"The festival" has been taking place since 1985 and is said to be the largest family festival in southern Germany. The organizers want to do justice to all age groups, including children and families. For this purpose, in addition to music acts, there are numerous free cultural performances and sports activities in the hill area of the Günther-Klotz-Anlage, which is subject to a fee.

This time, "The Festival" lasted four days for the first time. At the beginning of Thursday evening, the Berlin band Seeed with their singer Peter Fox was on stage.
