Baden-Württemberg: Arrest warrants against five suspected ATM blasters

Göppingen (dpa / lsw) - The public prosecutor's office in Ulm has issued arrest warrants against five men because they are said to have blown up several ATMs. The group was involved in four blasts in the Göppingen area between June and October, the public prosecutor's office and the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office announced on Thursday.

According to the information, the ATMs withstood all the explosions. The suspects, between the ages of 18 and 23, are said not to have gotten any loot. In the last act at an ATM in Lorch (Ostalbkreis), witnesses would have led to a suspicious vehicle. According to their own statements, police officers discovered possible crime tools and the perpetrator's clothing in it. During subsequent searches of the apartment, the officers found another possible tool.

An arrest warrant was issued against three suspects in mid-November 2022. Since then they have been held in custody in different prisons. Two more arrest warrants were issued in early December. The eldest of the group is the only one not to be held in custody for the time being because he commented on the explosions.

It is still being determined whether the gang was involved in another ATM blow-up in June, in which 60,000 euros were stolen.
