Baden-Württemberg: Association: farmers in the southwest with significantly more profit

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Farmers in the south-west have recently been able to earn significantly more money - but are also exposed to a number of uncertainties. In the 2021/22 financial year, which ended at the end of June, the farms made an average profit of 64,000 euros and thus 23 percent more than in the previous year, as Farmer President Joachim Rukwied said on Monday in Stuttgart. "This level is not sufficient to safely lead a company into the future." In view of the increased costs for operating resources or the fluctuating markets, this increase is too small.

In terms of income for farmers, Baden-Württemberg is at the bottom of the nationwide table, Rukwied continued. While in the south-west each non-paid family worker made a profit of around 43,000 euros, the national average was just under 57,000 euros - in Schleswig-Holstein even 91,000 euros. The accounting results of around 1,200 companies in the southwest were evaluated.
