Baden-Württemberg: ATM blown up: residents have to be evacuated

Rottenburg am Neckar (dpa/lsw) - In Rottenburg am Neckar (Tübingen district), three perpetrators blew up a bank's ATM with such force that residents had to be evacuated from their homes. They heard a loud bang on Thursday night, according to a police spokesman. They were able to observe how two of the alleged perpetrators shortly afterwards got into a vehicle in which another accomplice was sitting. The police launched a manhunt including a helicopter - initially without success.

Due to the force of the detonation, the outer wall of the apartment building where the machine was located was so badly damaged that the residents of the house had to be accommodated elsewhere as a precaution.

According to initial police estimates, property damage of around 70,000 euros was caused to the building. It was not initially known how much cash was stolen.
