Baden-Württemberg: Baden-Württemberg in firecracker mood

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After two years without firecrackers and fireworks because of the corona pandemic, many people in Baden-Württemberg want to let it rip again at the turn of the year. In some municipalities there are stricter time restrictions or local ban zones, for example to protect old half-timbered houses from fires. You are also warned to be considerate of animals with fine hearing - for them the noise is pure stress. The debate about sparkling fireworks is also linked to questions of particulate matter and environmental pollution as well as mountains of garbage that are left behind.

Nevertheless, many people don't want to let the celebrations take place after the corona-related break. In downtown Stuttgart, for example, a big party is planned on the Schlossplatz, which up to 20,000 people can take part in.

The German Weather Service predicts record high temperatures for New Year's Eve. 14 degrees can be expected in Upper Swabia and up to 22 degrees at the foot of the Black Forest. There is also strong wind.
