Baden-Württemberg: Badisches Staatstheater receives new management

A little faster than planned: the Badisches Staatstheater is getting a new directorship. After the election, Minister of Art Bauer and the Mayor of Karlsruhe personally presented the personnel.

Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - The Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe is getting new management: the board of directors will elect a new directorship this Thursday. After the meeting, Minister of Art Theresia Bauer (Greens) and Mayor Frank Mentrup (SPD) will present them (from 1 p.m.). The position of artistic director from the 2024/25 season should only be announced after the summer break.

The replacement marks the end of a long management crisis at the theater. The former General Manager Peter Spuhler was heavily criticized for his personnel management and his authoritarian leadership style in the summer of 2020 and had to leave the house early last year. Since then, Ulrich Peters has been running the theater as interim director, together with the artistic director Uta-Christine Deppermann and the managing director Johannes Graf-Hauber. The general manager was abolished.
