Baden-Württemberg: Ban on prostitution extended in Heilbronn

Heilbronn (dpa/lsw) - Street prostitution around the line will remain prohibited in Heilbronn until the middle of next year. The city has extended the ban, which has been in effect for three months since mid-September, until June 13, 2023. The city is in talks with the regional council about a permanent ban on street prostitution, a city spokeswoman said on Friday.

In the past, criminal offenses and violent clashes have repeatedly occurred in the Hafenstraße area. Other prostitutes were injured. The situation has calmed down since the ban in September. However, it is assumed that there has been no lasting improvement in the situation, since those involved have switched to apartment prostitution and are presumably waiting to resume street prostitution after the ban on street prostitution has expired, according to a statement.

The basis for the ban is the Prostitution Protection Act. Anyone who does not comply with the ban faces a fine of 500 euros and, in the event of a repeat offense, 1000 euros. In addition, a violation can be punished as an administrative offense with a fine of up to 1000 euros.
