The Black Forest Mountain Rescue Service is on duty around 1,500 times a year. Volunteers have been helping people in need for 100 years. They celebrate at the end of July. But now there is an important date.

Winden im Elztal (dpa/lsw) - The Black Forest Mountain Rescue Service wants to celebrate its 100th anniversary today with a mountain service and the Freiburg Archbishop Stephan Burger. According to a spokeswoman, around 450 to 600 guests are expected on the 907 meter high Hörnleberg. Near the pilgrimage church "Unsere Liebe Frau auf dem Hörnleberg" in the Elztal, among other things, the youth mountain guard should intercede and the brass band Hieslemusikanten should play.

Around 1,500 times a year, around 750 active mountain rescuers are on duty in the Black Forest, whatever the weather. The Black Forest Mountain Rescue Service wants to celebrate its anniversary on July 23 at the Feldberg in a big way.
