Baden-Württemberg: burglar threatened woman with saw and hammer: process

In Heidelberg, a man is on trial who allegedly threatened a woman for hours and finally forced her to engage in sexual activity. If convicted, he faces a long prison sentence.

Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) - It's a nightmare: A woman is awakened in her sleep by a burglar, threatened with a hammer and saw and finally sexually abused. For this act, a 36-year-old must answer to the district court of Heidelberg from Wednesday (9:00 a.m.). First, the indictment is read.

According to the findings of the public prosecutor's office, the man broke into the woman's house in Edingen-Neckarhausen (Rhein-Neckar district) in February last year while looking for valuables. He is said to have used a hammer to force the woman to hand over money and jewellery. When he realized that there were no valuables, he hit his victim with a saw he had brought with him, injuring him slightly. This act falls under the category of extortion kidnapping and is punishable with a prison sentence of at least five years. The 36-year-old is also charged with burglary, dangerous bodily harm, extortion and sexual assault.

When the man realized that his original goals could not be achieved, he is said to have resorted to sexually abusing the woman. He is said to have left the house three hours later.
