Mundelsheim (dpa / lsw) - A truck loaded with cleaning agents caught fire on Autobahn 81 near Mundelsheim (Ludwigsburg district). It started to burn in the engine compartment on Saturday night, according to the police. The flames spread to the entire tractor unit, which was fully engulfed in flames. The fire brigade prevented the loaded trailer from catching fire. The 35-year-old truck driver was reportedly unharmed.
For the extinguishing work, the police completely blocked the A81 in the direction of Stuttgart for about half an hour. Because of the towing and cleaning work, not all lanes were clear afterwards. Because the incident happened in the middle of the night, traffic was hardly affected, according to the police.
