Ebersbach an der Fils (dpa / lsw) - While driving, a man's car caught fire in the Göppingen district. The 39-year-old was just in time to pull onto the hard shoulder and get out before the car burst into flames and burned out completely. The driver was driving on the B 10 federal road near Ebersbach an der Fils on Sunday night when he noticed sparks flying from the rear of his car, a police spokesman said.
The man was unharmed due to his quick action. According to the police, the road surface was significantly damaged by the strong heat development, and the federal road had to be temporarily closed in the direction of Stuttgart. What led to the fire was initially unknown. The police suspect a technical defect.
