Baden-Württemberg: Caritas closes a nursing home due to a lack of staff

Glottertal (dpa / lsw) - Because there is a lack of specialist staff, a Caritas nursing home in the Black Forest is temporarily closed. The facility in the Glottertal senior center (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) with 20 residents was only opened in mid-March, as a spokesman for the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald Caritas Association announced on Wednesday. Several media had previously reported.

The association has reserved other places in the district for the residents of the home. Employees also have perspectives in other institutions, according to a statement. "We are very sorry for all those affected that we are currently unable to offer care options for residents in the Katharina-Rieder-Haus nursing home without sacrificing the quality of care," said association CEO Jochen Kandziorra.

Originally, the home was supposed to offer 45 places. The citizens' meeting of the Glottertal generation community and the senior citizens' apartments in the Katharina-Rieder-Haus are not affected by the closure. The association reported that attempts will be made to use the nursing home in Glottertal again next year.
