Baden-Württemberg: CDU: State must pay energy price flat rate for pensioners

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the view of the CDU parliamentary group, in view of the increased energy prices, the state must also help retired civil servants in the south-west. The CDU finance expert Tobias Wald told the German Press Agency on Thursday: "Pensioners will now be supported with 300 euros from the latest relief package." However, the pension recipients in the country would have nothing from the relief provided by the traffic light government. "As a consequence, the energy price flat rate must also benefit this population group once," he demanded. "We have to get this started now so that the pension recipients are not forgotten in these extraordinary times by the end of the year."

With around 145,000 pensioners in the country, that would cost 45 million euros, Wald calculated. In his view, the money for this measure could be financed from the reserve for personnel expenses.
