Baden-Württemberg: City Day: Anchor integration management in law

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The city council calls for the integration management of refugees to be anchored in Baden-Württemberg by law. The association announced on Friday in Stuttgart that a legal consolidation of the support program would allow cities and municipalities to retain staff in the long term and improve the quality of the previously limited employment relationships. The Pact for Integration has existed in the country since 2017. A core element are the integration managers, who help the refugees to integrate into everyday life and to find their way around there.

"Integration work is best done on site in the cities and communities," said Gudrun Heute-Bluhm, executive board member of the city association. After initial admission and temporary accommodation, migrants spend most of their time in the municipal follow-up accommodation, as the association further announced. Rapid and successful integration harbors enormous potential for urban society and is also associated with considerable challenges.
