Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The tennis professional Matteo Berrettini, who was seeded in second place, had difficulty reaching the quarter-finals at the ATP lawn tournament in Stuttgart. The world number ten from Italy won his opening match at the Weissenhof against Radu Albot from Moldova on Wednesday 6:2, 4:6, 6:3. In the first round of the 769,645 euro event, Berrettini had a bye. In the round of the last eight he meets either Warsteiner Jan-Lennard Struff or his Italian compatriot Lorenzo Sonego.
In 2019, Berrettini won the title in Stuttgart - it was his first on grass on the ATP tour. The 26-year-old is one of the favorites to win the tournament again this year. Last summer he was in Wimbledon in the final of the most important lawn tournament in the world.
