Baden-Württemberg: compromise to protest: road blockade without sticking

Aalen (dpa / lsw) - Five climate activists from the Last Generation group blocked a street in Aalen (Ostalbkreis) without sticking to the street, as is often the case. There had been a compromise talk between officials from the regulatory office and the protesters on site, as the city administration of Aalen announced on Wednesday. It was agreed that the protesters would not stick and that the blockade would end after 30 minutes on Wednesday morning. The activists stuck to the agreement and took to the streets with protest signs.

The climate protection group Last Generation said earlier this week that it had contacted cities and mayors to talk to them about a possible stop to the protests. When asked by the dpa news agency, the largest cities in the southwest said that there was no known direct offer of talks there.

In Hanover, activists have pledged to end the protests. Earlier, Mayor Belit Onay (Greens) assured after a meeting that he would support her demand for a so-called social council with a letter to the democratic parliamentary groups.
