Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In view of the high number of sexual offenses, psychotherapists criticize what they consider to be a completely insufficient number of trauma clinics in the south-west. "Fast care is not guaranteed in Baden-Württemberg, despite legal obligations," criticized the Baden-Württemberg State Chamber of Psychotherapists and the victim protection association BIOS-BW on Friday in Stuttgart.
Since January 1, 2021, all victims of violent crime have had a legal right to the services of the trauma ambulance. "But in no federal state are there fewer trauma clinics relative to the number of inhabitants than in Baden-Württemberg," criticized the experts.
The Southwest was missing more than 20 trauma clinics to meet the national average. Above all, it is important to offer a supply in the area. It is a social and legal obligation to support victims of violent and sexual offenses at an early stage by psychotherapeutically competent specialists. "But victims of violence and sexual offenses don't really have a lobby in Baden-Württemberg," said former judge Klaus Boehm of the Karlsruhe Treatment Initiative for Victim Protection (BIOS-BW), which was founded by judges and public prosecutors. Above all, the chamber warned of the costs of a lack of care.
Trauma outpatient clinics are intended to prevent long waiting times and avoid the search for suitable psychologists and doctors. Trauma clinics are usually attached to psychiatric wards or hospitals. Psychologists and doctors work in them. Experts consider it necessary to expand to other carriers. According to the State Chamber of Psychotherapists, there are seven outpatient trauma clinics in Baden-Württemberg, two of which are for children.
